Just read on the diesel page website that Harbor Freight offers a 200 fuse pac for $2.99. They are so good that they never blow! Your wiring harness just melts away. GM techs are suposed to be passing around info of burn up electrics that get traced back to Harbor freight fuses. Boy just think.. never change a fuse again! I wish they sold guns and ammo!

Sounds like a good reason to avoid GM to me.

Sounds like an urban legend to me.

Think about it for a minute, no matter how badly made the fuse is, it will *NOT* cause the wiring to suddenly melt. Fuses do not pump electricity, causing wires to become overloaded. Even GM would be able to understand this, and recognize that something else is failing, burning up the wiring harnesses. If it were to be happening at all.

A friend used some of these import fuses in his jeep.Wire insulation melted after a short in tail light.I tested some other fuses in the bubble pak, took twice the rated current to open.Placing a fuse directly across a battery is not a good test.A 12v battery will melt a small wrench.HF sells a lot of junk.

We ain't seen nothing yet... Cheap China imports are going to destroy us.. Poisonous foods & drugs, lead paint, faulty electrical products.. We are in the maufacturing business, almost all of our work has been lost to China.. I have had customers tell me that they so not really care about quality, as long as they can get a cheap price.. It is time to stop buying anything from companies that import this junk!!!

What's the deal, made in China 30 amp fuses marked as 3 amp or what. And what is the problem with this GM electronic equipment that the fuse would need to blow ? Normall a fuse only needs to blow when somthing else fails and causes excessive current draw. ??

A google search turns up the story of Made in China mini fuses of 15 amp that will not blow even at 50 amp load. One said they shorted one directly across a battery and melted the fuse plastic before it would blow. The things must have an internal dead short between the connction blades. Makes one wonder about other low $$ safety equippment like GFCI units from discount big box stores and places like Harbor Freight ?? Got a fuse kit I bought from an ACME tool store, may have to do a close visual inspection of the fuses and intentionally blow a couple of them as a test. I dont remember that the kit contains any GM miny fuses, but I better check.
The story says the China fuses have no brand markings, so who knows how many other stores beside HF sell them. Wadda deal .

Checked my made in China discount store GM fuse kit, found no problem, but my kit does not contain the "mini" style fuses. The plastic case of the GM style standard and mini type fuse is clear but sometimes colored plastic with the two connecting blades and the little fuse wire between them clearly visible. The connecting blades are seperated by 1/4 inch or more, so anything fishy in the construction of the fuse should be easily to spot. Might pay to do a visual inspection of any discount store fuses in stock or that you have recently installed. I intentionally blew one of the 15 amp fuses just in case it had steel substituted for the lead fuse wire, it popped the instant I shorted it.
I dont know if buying a name brand fuse is any assurance of protection either. Last night I installed a water pump from an AC Delco dealer, the pump and the AC Delco logo marked box were both marked "made in China"

I just went through that with a $$$$ brand-new AC Delco master cylinder... generic-looking as hell, with a "made in china" sticker on it.
