A friend offered to trade me a wood planer that belonged to his father for material I'd bought for repairs to his mother's house.
Sounds like somethings wrong with the power feed - I'll have to get it into my shop to troubleshoot it. The base is pretty rusted from sitting in a wet basement - I may have to weld in a base if the machine is worth it.
This unit hasn't been run in in over 20 years. The main motor is 220v and I've got the manual on order. Anyone know if it's a decent machine? Are there any major "gotcha's" that go with it? The material bill was only about $150 so I don't think I got hurt too badly even if it's junk. Thanks for any info!

I have one for 22 years and it has planed a lot of Red Oak for me and it is one of the better ones on the market. I have the sanding attachment but have never used it and I also have a new 5H.P.Motor with Starter Switch which I bought at the same time for it but the original Motor is still going. I have used up several sets of Knives. Mine is on a base with non directional wheels with sides built on the base to catch any Shavings that the Dust collector misses. It is a 10 on a 1-10 Scale in my estimation. It will out work any of these Table sitting Planers most outlets sell now. The Company is still responsive to inquire if I need any Service Etc. even 22 years after I bought their product. Says a lot for their commitment to their customers.

Thanks for the info! I got the manual in the mail 2 days after I'd ordered. The guy who owned this planer also had a saw mill - 48" blade, diesel powered, NON portable. The roof has fallen in on it but the blade and the carrages still move. I wish I had a use for it!
I still haven't tried to load this planer - going have to get the guys brother to use his 555 back hoe to lift it onto a trailer for me. It's heavy! That's another good sign!
It has a spare cutter head and extra blades but that's the only extras with it.
Thanks for the info!

if you were closer I would give you 250 site un seen and be very happy.
have a Woodmaster 12" if that 18" is 20 years old then it is one of the first as they were not avaible when I bought my 12". been very happy with the 12 " once I figured out the idler pulley for the feed was in the wrong place had no feeding problems since. Does need a dust collector hooked to it for sanding, shouldn't need one for planning
