I want to put an electric brake unit on my 93 Suburban. Do the units have wiring instructions
for specific years and makes of vehichles?
I currently have the old 4 prong flat small trailer harness. I need to add the larger "round" female to accept the male plug on my new trailer.
Any helpful tips, hints, will be appreciated.
I'm not too thrilled about tackling this when I see the big loom of wires hanging around my brake pedal.
Many thanks to all, Mark

"Do the units have wiring instructions", Yes.
Look in the owners manual under towing its possible that the electric wiring harness for the brakes is already prewired but not connected. That"s just the blue wire that will go from the controller to the rear. I just did 94 and it was their along with a auxzerly wire. I did have to drill a hole in the fire wall to run the wires threw. 4 wires hook to the controller, 1) brake signal wire from brake switch light, on you truck I pick it up on the wire at or near were the turn signal switch connects at the base of the steering column. 2)ground wire. 3) Power wire, I feed off battery fused instruction will come with unit. 4) brake signal wire that goes to trailer. They have a nice 7 pin connector for the rear now that is prewired and sealed, around $30.00. You can hook your 4 wire flat connector to it and B done with the trailer light hook up or hard wire it. Google it you should find some tips.

It's possible your Suburban has an under dash plug for electric brakes. Our '95 Ford did. It isn't that hard to wire in. You need a groundwire, a hot supply wire (fused), a wire from the brake light circuit and a wire back to the trailer plug. to supply juice to the brakes. I've bought quite a few over the years and they all have had very clear instructions. I like the tekonsha's best.

I'll second the vote for Tekonsha.

Should be wiring instructions with the brake controller unit.
