I have a Laser affair I got at Lowes for my two Power Mitre Saws. It slides on the Arbor after you put the Blade on and is powered by small Watch type Batteries, activated by the force of the blade running. My other Laser which is like a 24" Level with a laser beam built into the end of it is powered by 9 Volt Batteries. Yours quite likely has need of a 9Volt Battery and probably is activated by the travel of the Drill.Just my Idea. John

I read that some of them need a 9V battery to operate the laser light, and possibly have an on/off switch. Might check and see if there's a slot for one, or if it came with a manual that says anything about it.
