How can you tell if the taper is a number 3 or a number 33? Also good source for chucks? Thanks. J.

For chucks, try ENCO. They have them in a wide price range.

You might try Grizzly Tools for a chuck. I got one from them a few years ago, and it works fine.

Small end of taper on # 3 is.746 and small

end of #33 is .560 .

Don't know about the taper, unless its stamped somewhere. A while back I googled Jacobs Chucks and clicked on I'm Feeling Lucky. Takes you right to their web site. I think they show Lowes as an outlet, if you have one that's close. LE
