anyone know anything about this welder/generator? what's a good price for a used one with less than 200 hours on it? Do they still make parts for this? How old is this welder? I tried looking for info on the web, but I can't find anything. Thanks a bunch

Andre S

As I recall, the letter "K" in the I.D. number on the tag stands for the year 1980. You can determine the age of a Miller machine by going up or down in calendar years from there.

It would be advisable to check with the factory tech dept to determine if parts are still available. They probably won't be able to provide a detailed list either way. You can ask specifics. One thing that may be hard to come by is the solenoid that controls the engine throttle.

Miller still makes a "Blue Star" series but not the 2E. The new ones sell for around $1800 or more.

You should be able to find a tag somewhere on the unit that will have the full model and serial number on it. Get that info and call Miller at 800-426-4553 and ask them about parts availability. Sometimes Miller has parts on hand for older machines but do not list them in the dealer catalogs because of the age. This will give you a quick answer on the parts side and they can tell you the exact age of the machine.

As far as price goes, I'm not even going to take a guess on it. Being that you could not find anything on the web, good bet that it's relatively old and not too common an item anymore.
