What does the .517 cu. in. mean? The bigger the cu.in. the bigger the pump?

Haldex High Pressure Hydraulic Gear Pump .517 Cu. In., Model# 1002968
this is from the northern tool web site.

There are 231 cubic inches in one US liquid gallon. Thus in the 1000 rpm/517cu in per min example the pump is capable of 2.23 gallons per minute or 9 quarts per minute.

Thats how much oil is moved per revolution of the pump. If it is turning at 1000RPM. You would have 1000 X .517 = 517 cubic inches per minute.
