Can anyone tell me why my "Victor? actelyene regulator pulsates when I use the torch (cutting or welding). It just started doing it, never had a problem before. It's about eight years old,and it's a single stage. thanks for your help. Jim

Jim,

A couple questions...

1. Oxygen or fuel regulator?

2. What is the pressure of the tank on the offending regulator?

3. Are the line or regulator vents clean?...I have had leaf cutter bees etc. fill them.

4. If not a "obvious" problem, take it to a Victor dealer and they will rebuild it if necessary but it could just be something is sticking. Victor is a quality tool and the repair cost should be worth it. Get an estimate though. third party image

let me guess....you never let the secondary(torch) pressure off to 0 before turning off the cylinder?????If so this causes the spring on the regulator to stick, causing the pulsation. take it to a welding supplyand Have it checked out , it could also be something as simple as a bug(spider) nest up in there causing some havoc. A quick check would be to back out the adjustment screw on the regulator to 0 and re adjust the torch to maybee a little over 5 psi maybee 7-10 and back it down to 5-7 psi . remember no more than 14 psi or you will get liquid out of you torch that is extremly dangerous ( acetone) . hope this helps , and if in doubt send the regulator in for service, it is cheap pice of mind. Shawn
