I have a Husqvarna straight shaft brush cutter which works well. Currently using the standard steel blades which seem to dull quickly. I'm interested to know if anyone sells carbide tipped brush blades for these saws. Last time I looked in the Husqvarna accessories catalog, they didn't offer anything like that. Dealer is no help...they got a blank look in their eyes when I asked the question. Any sources for these blades?

Just got a Beaver Blade it has chainsaw teeth on it seems to cut like a dream and handles well. I uses the old 4 tooth weed blade and the difference is fantastic. You might want to check one out. regards

The other posters have already mentioned the trouble with carbide... it's hard and wear resistant, but your first encounter with a rock or piece of steel will likely send your nice (expensive) blade to the scrap pile.

Got a welder ? You might try putting some hardfacing on your blades.. increase their edge live 10 to 20X.

I had a carbide-tipped saw blade for my old Echo at one time. It cut like a striped ape but too many chance meetings with steel fence posts and other hard stuff did it in. I'm now kinda partial to the blades that have chain saw teeth riveted onto the blade. These have little kick back, have a controlled feed into a heavy cut, and are easily field sharpened.

Don't know if they would supply a carbide tipped blade for safety reasons like the carbide flying off. Having said that I made my own. I punched out a skill saw blade to fit the arbour on the brush cutter.Cuts like a hot damn? Just make sure no one is around you in case bits fly off.

Joe, i have a student that modifies blades by boreing on a lath. he cuts yards for spending cash. he said that he has never had a problem with carbide until he hits border rocks.
