Old Gasoline Disposal

I have about 10 gallons of gas that is about four years old. What is recommended method of disposal?

I just pour old gasoline into a can full of sand and burn it. I'm not an environmental fanatic, but most of my neighbors are still on wells so I wouldn't pour oil or gas out on the ground. Plus that stuff can dravel long distances depending on the soil makeup.

My self I use it to start brush fires with, I mix it with oil or diesle fuel and burn the brush etc.

if it is a good gas can that has no rust, I would make sure you have a full tank of gas in your truck, and put half of it in your truck, then burn that out and add the rest to another full tank of gas.

If you are as sick as some people I used to work with , You surely have some one who's always braggin' about how great their fuel milage is, simply find a way to add a a couple or three gallons or what ever amount needed to give them a boost, I worked in a new car dealership and one of the guys that worked for me in the bodyshop had a fuel management recall for his nearly new S10, supposedly a new chip was installed and lo and behold he was gettin 36 MPG WOW!!!! Any way it was fun for a while , and really cut down on the cost of his 45 mile commute. P.S. Personally I would clean parts with it !

These are truly sick men. LOL Gonna do it to a co-worker.

One of the old farts I work with golfs occasionally. Now he is the cantankerous sort with an active imagination. He was putting in when a drive came in off the out-of-sight tee-box. He picked up the offending ball and placed it in the cup. He then picked up his ball and went to the next tee-box. It took a while for the offending golfers to find the ball as they looked everywhere but the cup. When it was found, you could hear 'em a county a way. Old Fart just laughed. He is truly evil.

Treat it like you do your waste oil. I keep jugs around for used motor oil and any thing I don't want like mineral spirits after cleaning a paint brush. Take it all to Autozone and dump it. They never care what you are dumping so as long as it's petroleum base I can't think of a beter way to deal with it. Gear oil or tranny fluid same same.

I had the drainings out of an old diesel tank, 10 gallons of black sludge, The guy at the waste facility let me dump it in the waste oil tank. Thet place sends the oil to be burned at a powerplant, he said.

As long as it is clean and no water put in your tractor if you have a gas burner, or lawnmower.

At the risk of the tree huggers and militant vegetarians screamin it will wreck the eco system n environment n cause global warming n were alllll lll gonna die (didnt petroleum come from the ground in the first place) Ill just say I knew this "dude" who used it to kill unwanted vegetation or multiflora rose etc on his farm located outside the city limits of course..... .....

Why not? After all, there's certainly no way that pouring used motor oil or gasoline on the ground could ever contaminate a water table. And if it did, so what? I mean, it wouldn't be your neighbors' problem. It's not like those water tables are connected underground or anything like that.

Did you ever look into leasing out your basement for disposal of radioactive waste? You know, that stuff initially came from the earth too, so it's probably nothing but a bunch of tree hugger/vegetarian hysterical exaggeration about it being dangerous. You might be able to make some pretty good money, and at the same time cut down your heating bill for the next 100,000 years.

At the risk of sounding like a tree hugger, it does come from the ground but they do generally pump it up for quite a distance.
Remember if you've got a well anything you pour on the ground is likely to end up in it. It only takes like 1 part per million to contaminate your ground water and if the gas has MBTE in it it WILL make you sick.

Yep, yer surely correct on that oil finding its way into the well water. My son worked at a repair shop about a mile away. He said they poured the old used drain oil, from cars and trucks, and old paint thinner, etc., down into the well, which was no longer used by them! My house water well, about 250 foot deep, had good water, never needed a filter, but one day, the water was found to be contaminated with motor oil, and other stuff! I had to connect to the city water line next day, and close the well! I still think that goo he poured into their well was what migrated to mine! couldn't prove it, but----
