I ripped out that Deck today.

Well it took us 3 hours. I brought the big Sthil 029 farm boss and we sawed it up in sections one at a time and the BIL carried the pieces to the dumpster while I sawed up the joists and top boards. Lots of rotted wood, mostly along the band joist area. The railings and spindles came down in a few minutes with the chain saw. Not too bad, just 3 hours of work and 1.5 hours of driving.

Providing the nursing home doesn't get it first..Years ago when I got divorced from my 1st ball and chain, I sold my house afterward and had my mother stash the procedes in her account..I told her to invest it , go on cruises , enjoy...Someday I'd get it in inheritance...Well , when maa's brains got scrambled from alzheimers , guess who's money that was ?? No paper trail...S.O.L. Nursing home got it all....

This Oct I will be marred 25 years. I just found out the outlaws have nothing left. I told the wife "all these years butting up with you and I'll get nothing".All she said was"carefull you may not out live them".

If there is already a lot of "drama" in the family, don't count on anything. Even if there is a will, trust or whatever, all it takes to go to probate is one person getting a lawyer. I saw 30% of my grandmother's assets get eaten up by the lawyers. At the the end of 3 years, everything was exactly the same, just less money.

My MIL got a will put together last year after my FIL died of cancer. My MIL aint rich but she owns a home and it is tough to F-around with a deed and will, the will declares both daughters get 50% of the whole.
