Hi CJ, I boondock camp 100% of the time and get our water from lakes & streams using a Shurflo RV pump, 3.2gpm rated. The longest I've pumped is the pump at the lake using a lawn & garden battery then thru 200ft of 5/8" garden hose up a 75ft hill to my RV tanks. It took 20min to fill a 60gal tank so I didn't loose very much pumpimg action. That is my typical hook up when I get water, my pump located at the water source with about 3ft of lift max. The pump is rated at 25ft of suction lift. I've been using this set-up for the past 20yrs. Flojet now builds a better RV water pump, about $95, 5gpm 25ft/sl rated. These RV pumps are NOT designed for continious pumping and won't last long under those conditions, maybe 3mths. You can add a large pressure tank, 32gal drawdown, about $365, that will make the pump last a couple years. A Unisolar US64 PV a unbreakable PV, about $325 delivered, works well for batter recharging with a MorningStar charge controller, about $55. Any good 12v deep cycle battery will do, about $60 at WW or Autozone. The pump draws about 5a and the PV will keep up with the pump usage so a cheap battery will work well here. T_Bone
