What kind of irrigation system would I need to irrigate a 5 acre field. [vegetable} Have a creek that run year round that run beside it. Thanks for any Info. Eddie

Do you have the "water rights" to use the water?

In some locations, you might not, it may belong to someone downstream!

For years, the main way to irrigate out here was flood. Just get the water to the highest point and then you can lay irrigation pipe along that line to let water run down the furrows to the low side.

How much water do you want to put on on an irrigation? I presume you want to sprinkle. five acres is 660ft x 330 ft so if you want to run pipes across the 330ft and make 11 moves to get over once, you'll have about 8 heads with about 7.5 gpm per head at 35 psi, so you'll need a 60 gpm pump/~50 psi just to match those requirements but you need to fill the lines so your pump will probably need to be 80-90 gpm at 10 psi. That's a rough estimate. See your irrigation supplier and they'll figure it out pretty accurately for you.
