I"ve got some 10-10-10 that"s been sitting around the place for maybe 3 years. It"s a bit wet from absorbing moisture. Spreading it isn"t a problem but does it still posses it"s nutrients?

Thanks everyone. I did put some out about 2 weeks ago. The grass looked kinda brown and wasn"t growning. I really can"t tell where it"s helped. Maybe it"s the hot dry weather. I have been watering the grass so that shouldn"t be it but.... Anyway, I going to wait another week or two and then get some more fertilizer.

10 bags of triple 10 after 2 years found once again in the back of the shed = hardness of cement blocks

Try mixing it with water to let it dissolve; and then pour the water on your plants.

Nope.

Might get real hard though. We had some stuff that sat around for years (10 plus) and was like a brick. We gave it to a friend that happened to also run the local fertilizer plant, he just ran it though their processor and it was good as new.

Use it if you can.

K

Interesting question. I had a bunch of triple 15 laying around, maybe 5 years old. Much of it was liquifying and the bags were falling apart. I spread it on my hay fields - lightly, and it - in some areas - it killed the grass and turned it yellow. That's was kind of unusual. All the grass was knocked back a bit for a year, wasn't even quite right the second. I've spilled fertilizer for years, when crossing fields with a corn-planter - and usually the grass grows like crazy where the fertilizer drops.

My case isn't exactly scientific, but it certainly did a number on some of my hay field.

What's the difference? You have to get rid of it anyhow. Spread it and watch for greening up. If it's no good, you won't hurt anything.

If it got wet, I wonder if some of the N would have gassed off, but I would expect it to be close to original value.
