This will sound like an announcement that belongs in a financial section. �Twin Cities Co., Cool Clean, raised $8.7 million in a private placement of common stock�. This firm is in the equipment business. They furnish equipment that uses CO2 for cleaning garments, instead of the strong chemicals the dry cleaners have been using. Their equipment also uses this gas, mixed with soy-oil and other lubricants in the machine tool industry for cooling and lubrication. Please post your comments about any experience or ideas you have regarding this.

I used CO2 cleaners for a few year and would not go back to regular cleaners if I had a choice. It cleans great and no nasty chemicals on your cloths.

CO2 garment cleaning machines are difficult and expensive to maintain and I have been told, do not clean well.

I don't think there's anything wrong with using dry ice to clean up equipment, or using CO2 to clean clothes. They aren't MAKING any CO2, they're just taking it out of the atmosphere and putting it into bottles, or freezing it into ice.

To get liquid CO2 at standard temperatures takes 30 atmospheres which without looking it up I believe is about 1000psi. But from the badger boy's link it says liquid CO2 is a good solvent...

Now, with Algore and others all up in arms about CO2 emissions, I probably shouldn't mention this...but at the frame plant where I worked, they switched to a method of "blasting" grease, grime, and welding slag off machinery and robotic welding fixtures with dry ice...afterwards, all they had to do was shovel the slag and grime up off the floor, as the dry ice turned to vapor and disappeared into the atmosphere.

That's probably illegal now.
