what would cause my sears/craftsman power washer to instantly die when i let go of the trigger. it bogs right down and kills the motor. runs great if i have the trigger wide open at all times.

I just fixed mine, but it was a Karcher. And yest it is an easy fix. Mine came out, and I added just a little white lithium grease, now works great...

Likely there is some corrosion in the valve behind the spring that is holding the valve in the closed position. Many of these can be taken apart and cleaned. You should have an exploded parts page in your manual that shows the valve disassembled.

The unloader on the pump is not functioning.

Perry, Remove the unloader/pressure regulator from your pump and clean it. Also for what it is worth I have always run a small amount of RV antifreeze (cheap) through my pump after every use year round and have never had any problem with freezing or any stuck valves and the pressure washer that I have will be twelve years old the end of July.
