I have a west facing softwood 2x6 facia board that's severly weathered and dried. Some of the soft parts are worn 1/16-1/8" deep. I was wondering if one or more coats of boiled linseed oil would bring it back to life. On the rest of the trim I used epoxy filler and latex primer after removing all old paint. I've used the oil treatment on old weathered shovel handles and they come back real nice. If I use linseed oil how long would I have to wait before priming and could epoxy filler and latex primer be used? Or would I need to use oil primer? Any one tried this before? No chance of replacing the 2x6 as it's on the rake of a two story building.
