may want to use a straight weight oil like 30 or 40 like shell rotela since some older engines don't like multi weight oil very well

The person who owns this, probably won't be changing oil for a long time..I was thinking about the 15w40, as it seems more like my tractor, than a truck engine...Thanks for helping and confirming that.. deanop.....

10W-30 or 15W-40 will work fine. Or if it must be started when it's REALLY cold (like below 0 degF...) use 5W-30.

Incidentally I too love the smooth sound of those old Continental sixes(!)

We have an old redseal continental eng in a power unit on a machine here at work.. we put in sae30w in the winter and sae 40w in the summer.

If ya got good oil pressure and live in real cold areas.. perhaps a 10-30 or 15-40?? Not sure where you are at. I'm in florida..
