I need a clutch alignment tool or advice on how to align the cluth to the pilot bearing. I could buy a clutch assembly which includes a plastic alignment tool but that seems a bit extreme. I need suggestions. thanks

Thanks to everyone for their helpful advice. Dell, I took your suggestion and used the transmission shaft and replaced the seal. Worked like a charm.

You don't need a tool, just look at it.

If you feel the burning desire for a tool, make your own with a 3/8" extension and some masking tape.

A clutch alignment tool is not exactly a precision instrument.

Cullen..... ...iff'n you'd asked that question on the N-Board, we'd told you to remove the 4-bolt tranny input shaft to use that as yer clutch alignment tool. Simple, eh?

And while you have the tranny input shaft out, REPLACE the tranny input seal. $3 (cheap)..... Dell

The transmission input shaft works much better. The ford car and truck input shaft will work fine.

When i worked at the Ford Dealer, way back in 1948-51, we used the input shaft from a tranny, one that had been replaced because of missing teeth! Gee, i might still have it in my outback garage tool box!
