These small constant on chargers are not worth repairing.Back when they sold for 30.00 a new transformer cost 25.00.To make matters worse they might keep a tom cat from spraying the flowers but thats about all.

Send it to the manufacture, as there are liability issues. Fencers are usually sealed ie rivitd as there is nothing you are supposed to fix yourself. If you fix it and some person gets shocked with too much voltage you are liable. Also there is internal lightning protection ,if you screw that up you could burn your barn down.

They still have them?

I'm only partly kidding, the last one in these parts closed 5-6 years ago. Everybody just junks 'em and goes to Wally Mart for a new one these days...

Thats odd because I fix fence chargers. Most are repaired for about 1/3 the cost of new.I had my own charger hit by lightning 3 times in one week.Would have cost about 15.00 for three repairs vs 300.00 for new chargers.

Get the spec's and any part numbers or model numbers off the old one, and then try Mouser Electronics. Good chance they've got a substitute or even a direct match.

Mouser wont have them. These are all special transformers that have to come from the mfg.Chargers are not a do it your self repair. When ever one comes in with rivets removed I get real nervous.I found one that had an mov lightning arrestor blown apart by lightning.Dufus soldered the leads together. That connected the hot side of the ac line to the chargers metal case.Found an old gap type arrestor that Dufus soldered on and melted it, connecting the ac line to the case.I charge extra to work on attempted repairs as I have to make sure Dufus didnt do something stupid.
