Another day, another dollar. I was going thru some old pics and found this, thought you guys might like this. On a job in Limerick PA about 2 yrs ago. I was on it for 3 days. 4 cracked shanks, and the upper cross tube had a few cracks in it. It was about 90 degrees that day, about 150 deg or more in the bucket welding.

jeez...seems to me that you would have to have 10000 amps and 1 inch welding rod to weld something like that!!!

Awww heck no, 1/8" rod with 130 amps for root and 3/16" rod with 190 amps for the rest of the passes. I won't run 1/4" rod in the summer, too hot so as it is.

Officially way cool! How much dirt can that bucket hold? What kind of welder were you using? Are the bucket teeth held in with cross pins?

Hi James. No Idea how much it holds, I could get the nose of the truck(GM 1 ton) inside it though. The truck I had that day had a Miller big Blue 251 With a Duetz diesel. Yeah, they are cross pins. Glad I don't change em, that's the mechanics job, I just weld em up when they bust em up. Doug
