Hi

Just wondering if any one had any ideas on burning old tree stumps out? I have been pouring diesel fuel on top of them and letting it soak in for a long time, then i put charcoals on top of stump i put as many of the charcoals that will fit on top put some more fuel on the coals let sit a while athen light. Then we build a fire with wood logs on top of stump pretty big hopping it all burns up.Does any one have any good ideas? I have drilled big holes into the top of the stump and filled with salt and water to decay it faster to. thanks

I have been told to put a barrel(open both ends)over the fire and it axes like a chimney. Just remember to block it up for ventilation on the bottom.

I have an all wooded lot and I cut down a lot of trees. But so that I could have a little bit of a yard behind the house I just sawed the stump off flush with the ground and then filled over it will topsoil and planted grass. This works real good with the smaller trees (under 10" diameter) for the big ones with the large spreading roots it would be more work.

Gooday baler 46 . Try drilling that big hole ( 12 to 14" deep X 3 or 4 " dia ( the bigger the better ) and fill up with whey as in Curds & Whey . Got 20 ltrs from our local dairy supplier for under $20 . Filled the hole 3 or 4 times & presto - it ate the tree stump away in time . Now I have a driveway 2x's wider & the pine trees aren't growing through my power lines . Don't forget to cover it up so it doesn't wash away or evaporate , though . Catch-y'all , James in Australia @ jamesaviculture@hotmail.com

I recently burn't out a white oak stump. Soaked it with oil for a couple of days, stacked limbs on top and started it on fire. Threw all of the old chunks of wood I could find and would let burn down, restarting it every afternoon. It was gone in about five afternoons.
