What are the upper jaws on this gear puller for? The ones that point away from the screw?

Can't see your pic,but alot of pullers have jaws that are resversible. One end is bigger than the other so you can flip them around if you need to get into a tighter spot. This may be what you see ?????

guess I need help too on posting images. I put the code ImageShack gave for forums and message boards in the optional Image Url box. The first few times I submitted the post didn't ever show up. This time the post showed and the pic did not.

The jaws can be removed, and swapped "end-for-end" for different applications. Likely, there is a different shape to the "hook" at each end of the jaw, PLUS they can be installed with the hooks facing inward or outward for different jobs.

here's the url to a bigger pic
Link

I don't see any difference in the shape. Perhaps it is just in case one gets worn out it can be turned and use the other ends?

I'll make a test message later and test some pics. But if anyone can point me to a message here that goes over posting pics here it would be helpful.

#1 I think imageshack wants to put a thumbnail in the message that if clicked goes to the larger image. Perhaps that is not allowed here. So perhaps I need to put the link to the full image in the optional image url box.

#2 how do folks post multiple images in one message?
