OT: '86 F250 460 dual tank wiring

When I bought the truck "the rear tank don't
work". The engine seemed to run OK, now there's no fuel supply. Two fusible links (16ga & 18ga) that are connected to the 5/16 insulated stud on the left fire wall are fried. Nothing else connects to the stud, so they are in series. No point in that. Also fried is the 75 ohm wire that connects pin 3 of the pump relay and pin 3 of the selector relay. This truck has been a disaster from day 1. Stay tuned.

Has any one had this happen?
Can I expect to find the front tank pump shorted? Or something else? Where can I get a replacement for the 75 ohm wire?

I have had connectors on top of tank to disintegrate and short out on 91 Ford trucks, can't remember no others. This means tank down or carefully cut hole in floor.

Sorry, my error. There IS a 12ga feed to the post on the firewall where the two fusible links meet. It also shows signs of overheating at the connector about 2" from the ring terminal.

dang fords are liable to blow up even changing the dang filter!!!

That's right Bob.The fire triangle is Fuel,Heat and Oxegen. Remove anyone and you will not have a fire. No air,no boom.

Maybe it's just me but when you say "Fried" "Shorted" and this is in reference to a "Gasoline Fuel Tank" I would be running the other way as fast as I could to avoid the impending "Explosion".Take my advise and get rid of an "Explosion" waiting to happen.

Isn't that amazing, an electric "fuel sender unit" plus an electric fuel pump driven by a motor INSIDE the tank!

Yet, have you ever heard of a fuel tank explosion on a "modern" vehicle so equipped? (In normalk operation, NOT in a crash.)

A friends Chevy MD truck had a fuel pump fail, and wires burn completely off inside the tank, yet no BOOM!

I guess the theory is that there is to much fuel vapor in the tank, and too little oxygen to support combustion!
