In Michigan, if you sell em, ya gotta take the old ones back, and pay the core charge.

look up recycling and salvage. Scrap yards paid me 9 cents a pound for battery cores. They paid 2 bucks a pound for copper, 89 cents a pound for aluminum.

If you're near a big city look for a place that specializes in batteries. Old ones are usually worth at least a couple bucks apiece. Between kids cars, RV & assorted other stuff I seem to accumulate old batteries & make a run every couple years.

Battery place pays 50 each for old batteries. New batteries bought in California requires a $5 recycle fee, refundable when the old one is returned to the seller.

Doesn't work like that around here. Bring in the old battery, put it in their cart, pick out the new battery, bring it to Customer Service, remind them about the one you put in their cart, pay for the new battery with your credit card, remind them about the exchange fee for the one in the cart, give them the credit card again so they can apply the core charge, show the receipt for the new battery, remind them about the old battery in their cart, observe that the receipt still doesn't credit your account, remind them about the old battery in their cart, give the credit card back so they can apply the credit, take the battery home, install the battery, test everything including the lights, go inside for supper without noticing that the lights are still on, get up in the morning and realize that the battery is dead. Must be defective battery. Damn Walmart crap.

Then they take the battery out of the cart and put the cart back by the door. Customer comes in, takes the cart, puts some cloths in the cart, pays for them and takes them home. When she washs them she finds they are full of holes from the battery acid and can"t understand what happened. She then takes them back to Walmart and they blame the holes on her washing machine. She then goes to Sears and buys a new washing machine. That what makes the world turn.

Hey Tim, tell us how you really feel! By the way, I agree with you about Walmart workers. They must have a really low standard.

Usually if you need a new battery you can use the old one as a core, but if you have many of them take them to a scrap yard you will recieve money fo them

Check around your area, in Omaha we have a battery warehouse that will give you deposit money for old batteries. Also, TSC has a buyback day once a year, check, they may buy them back at other times. Good Luck

Some salvage yards will take them but ask before bringing it in. Likewise most auto parts stores that sell new batteries will take them but ask first. If you bought a new battery, that place should take the old one.
