Above vehicle has a problem with the antilock brakes. As you probably know the antilock brakes on this vehicle is just on the rear wheels. The "antilock brake" dash light is on. I have disconnected the battery for a prolonged period of time. Problem is still present. I have not done any other checking. What do you suppose the problem is?

Thank you, Glenn F.

Thank you for the suggestions. I am finishing up a couple classes I signed up for. Soon I will be working on the truck and many other things.

I checked a couple things: I have brake lights. I unplugged the module for about 2-3 minutes and plugged it back in. The light is still on. I checked on a new module. In calling I learned my dad's '90 has the same module. At some point I may be switching it with mine.

Thank you,
Glenn FitzGerald

I have a 1988 1/2 ton chevy that only has rear anti lock with the brake light staying on all the time and everything was working okay. All I did was actually make the antilock engage by braking exrememly hard. After this I unhooked the battery and light has never came back on. It's been 2 years ago. A local mechanic told me to try this first.

"Ususally", it is the module if your basic brake system is up to snuff.

There are two plugs on that module that stands vertacally up by the master cylinder.

Unplug them both for 10 seconds and then plug 'em back in. Sometimes it works; sometimes not.

If it doesn't cure it or doesn't cure it permanently, you need that brake module. Last one I priced was $170.

Also check that your brake lights are working. a blown brake light fuse in my 92 K3500 will put both the brake and antilock lights on. I found this when I borrowed a trailer that has non standard trailer wiring that blew fuses on my rig the instant i plugged in the trailer lights/brakes.
