I have a 3 ton grain truck with steel box. There is considerable rust where the floor joins the walls of the box. After scraping and cleaning out most of the rust, what can I paint it with to cover the rust damage and possibly stop the rust from growing ??

I use POR-15 that mjbrown was referring to under my 60" riding mower deck. It's been under there 5 years now and forms a good seal and is slick. Mine's about due again, though. I sandblasted mine, so they recommend to metal etch prior to coating if you do. It is actually made to go over TIGHT rust (car frames) which gives it "tooth" so it will stay on. If you don't have a blaster, I'd think you could steel brush your box, apply the POR with a brush, and get good results. I made my coating pretty thick.

I have tried just about every product and "Rustolum" primer works as good, or better, then anything.

Two products on the market made for that application are Chassis Saver and POR. I get Chassis Saver at an auto paint supply store.

Before painting with anything I would sand blast the area to help make sure the rust is all gone. Your efforts will last longer than just painting over it.
