Husqvarna Walk Behind

I am thinking about looking at a 2004 Husky walk-behind mower for my son who started his own mowing business this spring. I'd apprieciate opinions as to how they measure up to more common commercial mower brands, e.g., Skag, Exmark, Lesco etc.
I have a 1983 Hysky 266 chain saw that I think is great, but I have the impression that the Husky name, especaially mowers, are too consumer oriented these days (i.e., skimped on to save $$). I guess I've seen too many at Lowes and HD. I don't like Lowes not HD.

I've had a lesco 48" 14hp kawi for 9yrs.Before that JD's + bobcat. Lesco been the best. Any part you need is at the Lesco store. Lesco has been sold there now john deere landscape and the dealers will now be selling jd equipment

Do not buy it. I got one at Lowes. The grass cathcher fell apart in less than a year. Lowes could not even get a new part for me. They finally had to give me a Deere mower top relace it. The Deere was worse, the brand new one would not start. I made them refund my money and went out and bought a Honda which has been great so far.
The Husky replaced a Toro which lasted 15 years. I would definetly never buy the Husky or Deere, but can recommend the Honda and Toro.

The word on the street is that the big box stores buy huge lots from otherwise reputable manufactures, and arm twist for lower quality, lower cost items. I've had personal experiences buying the same name brand at a big box store vs. a specialty shop (lighting for example) and found that the extra $$ at the specialty shop was well worth it.

When ever possible, I avoid buying anything Home Cheapo or Lowedown. I would never by motorized equipment there.

Again, I was talking about machines sold by Husky for commercial use as power equipment shops.

they work well for manicured maintained lawns. Not for mowing bigger sticks, any rocks etc spindles wont take it.

Been Husqvarna dealer for about 15 years --sold a few of the commerical walks they are a good machine but the BEST by far is a Scag ( I also sell those)

Ditto, by a scagg and never look back. all the other mowers are compaired to a scagg.

To clarify, I am interested in a used machine, 48" cut, I assume it was sold as a commercial mower. My question is whether Husky commmercial equipment is worth it's salt in comparision to other brands.

I used to own a landscaping businuess and bought a brand new 52" Lesco belt drive walk behind. It wasn't a bad mower, but in 2 years I only put about 100 hrs on it. (It was my smallest mower.) I wouldn't say that it was the best, but certainly not the worst.
As far as Husky's go, I would go to a real dealer, NOT Lowe's, and you should still be able to get a real commercial grade mower. The same with John Deere, find a real dealer, not Home Depot.
