I recently ended up taking over 2 pigs from my son (he got them and lost interest 2 weeks later and I ended up with them). They have some lice on them and I wanted to spray them with something to kill the lice. I have some Lindane that is specifically for this but can't remember how much to add to a gallon of water. Any body remember or have a bottle with the directions still on it.

I always used ivomec injectable on my feeder pigs. the hardest part is holding them to give them an injection. pinch the loose skin just behind the front leg and pull to make it "tent". then inject under the skin, not in the muscle. dosage is 1 ml per 75 pounds. since you've only got two pigs i would go to my local vet and just get a couple doses in a syringe, rather than buying a whole bottle. use the 1% solution. it's the same as ivomec for cattle . it's just a lower dosage. not only will it control the lice it will control mange and internal worms. your pigs will really take off.

Any permethren powder of dip / spray will work. Heck.. the 'carbo' stuff like in 7-dust will kill em just like fleas too.. just take longer.

You can get many 'methrin' based dusts and sprays at just about any farm store... Arosal.. mix-emulsions.. dusters.. dips.. drips.. rubs.. etc.

I have raised hogs off and on for 40 years and grew up just using old used motor oil. I just treated 7 head last week. I always pour in top of head just back far enough it will run down behind both ears and a strip poured along the top of the back. If they are small enough, I also rub some under where there back legs meet there stomach. I used oil of all types, deisel fuel. All has always worked fine for me.

We just poured used motor oil along their backs. Pigs enjoyed rubbing against a post and lice disappeared.

Check and see if Ivermectin kills lice. I think I read that somewhere. I don't know the first thing about pigs beyond them being delicious but they must need worming now and then and Ivermectin is used on lots of animals for that.

Can't help with the Lindane, but if you want to sell these pigs in the future, there may be an issue (USDA Inspection?).

I'll have to check at home, but I think Permetherine (sp?) or similar is pretty reasonable and currently labeled for pigs.

we used to use Lindane years ago until our state banned it, is it legal there? Not to say don't use it just don't get in trouble! can't remember rates, otherwise Ivomec will clean them up!

Careful of that Lindane. Get it into your system and it gives people some of the symptoms of ADHD.
