So they decided to change to daylight Savings time a few weeks early. My computer's clock hasn't adjusted yet. Wonder if it will change three weeks late?

Hey look at it this way. Before the Railroads got every one together, every stinking little town had a different time! The clock was set to local solar time. High noon means straight overhead or as high as the sun will get. With daylite save time it is at one PM.

For those who are actually interested in the why's and how's of Daylight Saving(no 's'), here's a small sample:

"Daylight Saving Time does save energy. Studies done by the U.S. Department of Transportation show that Daylight Saving Time trims the entire country's electricity usage by a small but significant amount, about one percent each day, because less electricity is used for lighting and appliances. Similarly, in New Zealand, power companies have found that power usage decreases 3.5 percent when daylight saving starts. In the first week, peak evening consumption commonly drops around five percent."

The rest of this article can be found in the link "here".

For those who only want to complain, read no further. ;-)

Study around here showed electric use was actually up 1%. Might be different in southern areas, it's just silly up here. Was darn silly back in the '70s when they did it in January.

The time doesn't really change, it just has a different label on it.

I believe Congress controls this. What about when these intellegent bunch of people decided to stay on daylight savings time in the early 70's. There were many school children killed or injured mainly by standing on the side of the road in the dark! What did they do--OOPS we better change that next year????? ???

That was 'An energy Saving' maneuver. If you set the clock ahead and called it "Daylight Saving Time" and tell the people they were saving energy they would buy in to the idea. I think we've saved so much energy with daylight saving the containers are starting to leak hence the global warming.

Maybe your computer is smart enought to recognize another Government boon-doggle. "Dangle a dead stick they'll all follow." Does anyone have any idea what technology is being used to 'save daylight?' Where do THEY store it? When and how do you withdraw some to use on a cold February morning? It would have been nice when the Easter freeze hit the fruit, wheat and corn. Changing the man made clocks twice a year doesn't 'save' any thing. Been trying to make sense of it for fifty years.

Your computer may not be set to recognise daylight savings time. Right click on your time and check to see if it is set to recognise it. It should have changed about the 1st weekend in April, mine PC and my atomic clock both did.
