My old style(with external contacts)Sears 14.4 volt drill driver batteries, are not stocked at the stores in my area. They are available by phone order for about $53.00. I found a Rhyobi battery at Home Depot for $24.00, that fits the driver socket very nicely, however the battery will not go down far enough into the charger socket to make contact. Reason being three small ledges in the charger socket. Took my Dremel tool with a cutter bit and elimated the ledges. Works fine. The latch to lock the battery place dosen't line up, so I made strap out of Velcro, does the job. A piece of black or duct tape should work fine also. End result, I got two batteries for less than price of one Sears battery.

DeWalt and BD is also converted to accept each other with just a simple plastic 1/4 x 1/4 inch keystock being cut off.
