I'm rebuilding a cylinder on my Case Davis loader. The "gland" nut has a seal in it that I can't get out to replace. The gland looks to have a ring screwed into the face. It has four holes that a spanner type socket would fit. Is this ring left hand or standard thread? Any help will be appreciated. Thanks doorman

I just rebuilt all but three cylinders on my 580 CK. I made a wrench to fit into three of the holes in the gland. Take out the lock screw and turn counter clockwise. If it is stuck you might try a little heat. I never had to on all I rebuilt. The Case had all steel glands. If you should happen to have a aluminum gland and it is stuck, what I found that works is to heat up the threaded end of the steel cylinder. let it cool down naturally and it should screw out easily. Thanks for the reply. I currently have the gland screwed into the cylinder with the little "lock" screw in place. I guess I need to try to secure the gland in a vise somehow (without damaging it) and possibly adding some heat carefully. doorman

DON'T put it in a vice, Hook the base of the cycl. back on the hoe,this will keep it from turning(like in a vice) than you can put a lot of preasure on turning the nut/gland. just my .02 cents worth. Jim in N M

I work @ a Case Dealer , and all of the cyls that have the 4 drive holes in the gland are std rite hand thread. Now you watch , yours will be the exception ..... ....LOL
