Is a 25-30 yr old 350 cid block any good without a crankshaft? Got an opinion here that its a boat anchor, that another crank would not work.Any thoughts? Dan

A 400 crank turned down to fit the 350 block and 5.7 rods is cheap extra torque & HP. New cranks are cheap in the Summit Racing Catalog.

Hi Dan, My book says it is a 1975-1977 350 C.I.D, 165HP, engine. More than likely 4 bolt mains, did come with a 4 barrel carb and manual transmission. The K 10 is a 1/2 ton 4x4. These are the blocks most engine builders are after because if they are not cracked, they are naturaly hardened because it most likely was over heated more than once in a truck.

If the block is good and has the main brg. caps then it wouldn't be any problem to buy the rest of the parts to make it new again (or better). Parts are reasonable for those.

Dan, Get me the code letters and numbers off of the front pad. If your standing behind the block it's on the right side above the water pump hole. I can tell you what it is. Rob

You writing about a Chevy small block? Worth core deposit for rebuilder- $25.00-$50.00 if someone has a broken block and getting rebuilt block to replace. If you are planning to rebuild a 4 bolt main bearing block for hot rod use at about 300hp - get a crank kit for use after line bore and get to work- good block is $100.00. Some castings believed to be stronger because of high nickel content used in material cast- Camarro blocks and some C10, C20 commercial blocks, need to check Chevy hot rodders for casting codes. Plain 2 bearing low compression block good for 200hp rebuild or mix and match from a cracked block that some body didn't put antifreeze in-??$ whatever market. RN
