Been wanting to try this method on some old garden tractor chassis which I am planning to restore this season. What is the best nozzle setup to get and where did you get it from and were you happy with it? Is there a problem keeping the media dry until it is used? Are all these setups siphon only or are there some which are pressure assisted. Is there a limit on washer size? I've got a 2200psi, 3gpm Devilbiss unit.

It's the best way to go for trailers etc. As mentioned below got mine at Northern Tool, about $60 now I would guess. It works best if you have a good big powerwasher. Set it up so the sand tube on the nozzle is up so water won't go down in it and glom up the sand. Black Beauty sand flows the best through the sand pick up hose. Put the bag of sand in a garbage pail and poke the sand pickup probe right through the bag. Keeps the sand dry. I wear a full tyvek suit and face shield. You get covered in wet sand.

I love mine, however I always get alot of sand in my hair etc. The main reason I use mine is on sheet metal, as it will not warp due to heat. Any sand blaster other than a cabnet I feel makes a mess. I have had mine for thirty plus years, and the only problem is to drain the moisture out if it will be sitting for a long time. The end of the vent tube needs to be kept out of the mist and moisture. I have had the best luck putting the unit inside the shop and closing the door to keep the moisture out. And as with any sandblaster it always seem that a bright sun in your eyes usualy makes things go better. I have about six different blasters, four of them reclaim the sand or glass beads. I use the sand over and over again then into the water blaster as it is impossible to reclaim the sand. I used to get the sand from a silica sand mine six miles away, Usualy for a few beers, but now it gets real pricey, as the mine shut down probably 25 years ago. Perhaps I can now get cheap sand as the mine will reopen in a month or two.

I know that no one ever likes to hear saftey advise, but I do know for a fact that 90% of the old mine workers died from miners lung, and I will asure you that is not my prefered way of exiting this world. That sand settles in your lungs.

In case it's not mentioned , its more effective if the bag of sand is elevated so the siphon hose is level, rather than having to suck the sand uphill. I got mine @ Northern Hydraulics, works good.....
