Carburetor Manual Choke Question

I'm having the following problem with a manual choke carb. The carburetor was recently rebuilt. When starting the engine, I pull out the manual choke control to close the choke plate on the carb, the engine starts up fine and runs good, the idle is a little high. After the engine is warm and I push in the manual choke control in to open the plate, the engine goes dead.
Does this sound like an idle adjustment problem to you? If yes, is the idle adjusted by a screw near the throttle control linkage?

Thanks for your suggestions.

Roy

Basics: When choke is on a cam increases idle speed to keep cold engine running. Both idle and main fuel systems supply fuel to get enough fuel to cylinders when cold. When choke is off idle speed returns to normal and fuel is supplied through idle venturi.

If you have a 2 or 4 bbl carb the idle screw is on the side of the fuel bowl where it mounts to the carb body, 1 screw for each bowl.

Initial idle setting, turn screw in gently until seated then back out 1 1/2 turns.

Sounds like running too lean: leak at intake manifold, blocked idle passages, blocked fuel bowl vent or bad PVC valve if there is one.

There is a metal tag on your carb with a "list number", that is your carb model. my email is open if you want more details.
Hope this long winded disertation helps. Warren

Was it professionaly rebuilt? If so take it back and have it bench tested again.
If you rebuilt it, go back over your work and check every detail again. Then take it to a rebuilder and have it bench tested. Last one I had tested was $40, 10 years ago. If that don't fix the problem, you have others. Good luck.
