I've used those products, seems to work...for awhile, but rust eventually breaks through even following directions, (imagine that, lol) and with a top coat.

I use Picklex, but it is easily replaced with Phosporic Acid in the paint department at HD and Lowes. Put it in a spray bottle and spray it on a freshly sandblasted part, prime and paint, it will never rust again. Changes rust to iron phosphate.

ramrod, I looked into this stuff before. $37 for a 16oz bottle is insane. I just used a mixture of hydrochloric and sulfuric acid like they do industrially. Worked well...

That's right, so go to HD or Lowe's and get their generic Phorporic Acid in the paint dept by the gallon for much less, about 15 bucks if I remember right.

Yes I have on my 1948 KB5 AND ON 1954 International.
I was just using it today on my 1954. I have been using it since about 1970. Sometimes I bought the small bottles, but other times I bought it in one gallon containers. All you need to do is wire brush the loose rust, wipe off real good, and brush on the rust converter. It works better on a warm day. I tried it one time in the winter, but the stuff needs to dry 8 hours or more. Then I would spray a coat of rustoleum primer with a finish coat. I found out that if I didn"t use a finish coat, the rust would come through the primer. You can just put it on, but it works better with a primer and finish coat.

POR is one of the well spoken of ones.Technically they chemically change the rust to an black oxide coating and stop the oxidation. Most require finish coat of regular or POR "paint"over the converter if exposed to sunlight or rust will eventually begin again.
Some tradenames"
POR
Duro Extend
Permatex ??
And I believe Rustoleum and Duplicolor offer
their versions also/
I've have used a couple of em with pretty good results, however it is very important to read and follow the directions.....Stinkmask is a must :)
