Anybody got one of these Harbor Freight Pancake Compressors? Was in there today and it was on sale for $89.99, so I was thinking about buying it for finish nailer, air ratchet, tires, etc. in the garage. Its light enough to be convenient for carry-around, and its not oil-less. Extended warranty is another $20. Already got a bigboy Quincy in the barn. Anybody own one?

Keep clear of harbor fruit. Prices are not that good when you look around. Saw a compress at HD that came with nail gun for around the same price. Maybe made in China like all the rest but habor fruit seems to get the worst of worst.

Again, appreciate the responses. I was at the local Tractor Supply this morning, and they had a Clarke rig with just about the same specs (maybe a bit better). They don't have it on their web page, but I think this is the same model Here. It was marked $98. I'm thinking I'll change my mind and get that one instead; prefer dealing with TSC over Harbor Freight. TSC man told me the only reason they ever come back is if someone drops one (motor is aluminum and will crack if dropped).

Just as long as it is NOT an oiless pump. Pumps with oil last a very long time. Change the oil every so often and keep the filter clean. Oiless pumps are good for painting and air that you can breath. They are used for sandblastin suits.

Local auto parts store had these for $70 and they also had coupons for $20 off so I snagged one for $50 final price. It works just fine for nailers, pumping up tires, and blow guns. I did a calculation of tank capacity and came up with four gallons not five as advertised. Guess if you are halfway around the world the truth in advertising doesn't mean so much. I put Campbell Hausefield oil in it not the stuff that came in the box.

I have that one. i have used air blowers and tire inflators with it.. as well as finish nailers.

I did use a small 3/8 air ratchet with it to spin blade bolts off my lawnmower.. but it takes all it;'s air to get the bolt off. I instead switched to a 1/2" gun and bigger compressor.. but the pancake is great for a nailer or other small air job. i even painted a tractor or two with it by using an extra 15g air tank and lots of patience..

Thanks for the replies, all. Guess I will be going back by on Monday to take one home. I had to go by Home Depot on the way home tonight, looked at their pancake compressors. Harbor freight unit looks like a bit more compressor for less money. Can't tell any visual difference in craftsmanship of the compressor components.

I've had one for 6 years with no problems. I use it for my air nailers and for blowing off the filters for my wood burner. It is rather limited in it's uses, but it has been dependable.

I have one I've used with nail gun and it works ok. The only problem I had was it kept kicking off on I had to wait awhile then reset it. I figured out it was the extension cord that I was using. If you use a heavy duty extension cord it will probally work ok.

it will be perfect for nailer, but as was said, any type of constant air device is not going to work on it, as its only rated 4.2cfm. Rest assured that tools air consumption is rated low, so it probly requires more then the tools specs for good performance, and most compressors are rated high, meaning they squeeze eveyr last drop of cfm out of them. This compressor will NOT satisfactorly run a cutoff well, air chisel, or anything that is a constant air device. nailers are momentary devices and will work fine with these compressors.

I have two of them - one I have had for about 4 years. Have used it extensively running various nail guns. Never a moments trouble with it. I am not sure how good it would be with any type of constant air user. Storage is pretty limited.

I modified both of mine a bit by adding a pressure regulator for the line and a guage. That way I can run the line at about 85 PSI.
