A fella wants to buy some used steel posts from me but I've lost track of what they are worth. It used to be a buck apiece around here. What are they going for in your part of the country? I'm in N.W.Iowa and there's absolutely no need for them in my area. He's from southern Iowa. Jim

don,t know how far you are in nw Ua but we have consignment sales every spring and fall might want to check with auctions. I didn,t watch them sell last one acreage buyers will take them off your hands

I would love to find good 6' heavyweight T posts for $1 apiece! Or even the lighter weight ones. I think that the new heavy posts are about $3.50 and I need some more--the 200 I bought a few years ago are almost all in the ground and my fence is not done.

Steel prices are up. I would find out what the posts would bring for scrap metal and make sure I wasn't selling them for less than that. They should be worth more than scrap price, but you mentioned that there is no market for them where you are. You might be surprised what they would bring. I would suggest asking how much he will give you for them where they are, and with him doing the labor of loading them. Good luck!

Thanks. Now that I think about it I might weigh one just to see what it is worth as scrap. These posts are in pretty good shape so they're too good to melt down but at least I'll know what the minimum should be. Jim

Southern MN, used to be a buck a piece, saw some last week go $1.95 each. Seems to be the average these days.

I just bought 75 new steel posts yesterday. 6 1/2 ft were $4.20 with clips

I have a pile of used posts thta i would not take less than $2/ea for.

Call around to your local farm and home supply place to see what they are selling for. Then ask about the same price. Most auctions I go to they sell for the same if not more then they do new. Sort of funny seeing some thing they can buy for $3 sell for $4 plus but thats what I see all the time. Seems like fence posts and corral panels always sell for more used then when new

I've seen them sell for up to $3 used at auctions and also listed in the local paper. That in the northwest.
