Here's something: I'm an average homeowner with acreage who doen't farm but just cuts grass, trees/brush and road maintenance etc. I listed all the internal combustion engines my family owns(and maintains!) and came up with 24 counting everything from tractors to edgers to a 4 cycle model airplane. I just couldn't believe it. I know some of them have never had their oil changed even. Heck, I forgot I had some of them. Can anyone beat that?

There's a radio program here in the upper midwest - Garage Logic with Joe Soucheray. His formula for "net worth" is the Cylinder Index. Very close to your formula, only you count the number of internal combustion CYLINDERS. If your CI is greater than your age, you are doing well.

Check out www.garagelogic.com for more info. Be sure to click on "GL Lexicon" for information on many of the topics that are discussed on the show.
