Just a heads-up in case anybody could use the info. I have a 1950 Farmall "H" with old tires that are seriously weathered. It works just fine for me because I do not use it for anything very heavy duty. Still the checking got so bad that the tube began to show through between the cleats on the tire and of course finally I got a slow leak which turned into a problem because I had to add air about once an hour. I am sure everybody is familiar with the price of a new tire. Around $400 bucks here. Anyway I finally got desperate and added about half a gallon of Slime tire sealant to the tune of $30 dollars give or take and so far...it is holding. Stay tuned for further developments.

Actually, I'm in the same boat- near broke and frugal.....'twas me, I'd be lookin around for a decent set of used tires, shouldn't be too hard to come by, H's take a pretty common size tire and, at least in this country, there's alot of guys with more money than sense who spring for new tires when their old ones start showing some wear....

If not, look at it this way....how much is your H worth as a useable tractor? How much is it worth as scrap iron? Without functional tires, a hunk of iron's all it is. Sometimes ya just gotta break down(or save up) and spend the bucks it takes to get things going.

That said, go ahead and slime 'em, be interesting to see how long they really DO last!

I could have done the same post back last fall.Only I could not see the tube. worked good for about 3 Mo. now I can see the slime . Its still green. Ken B

For what it's worth...if the tire's bad enough you can see the tube, it won't be long and you'll be able to see the slime too....probably time for a different tire there.
