I've got a troy bilt chipper with a Tecumseh engine. I can't seem to get the thing to stay running. I will start up ramp up and then shut down. This is with the engine choked. Won't start if it is not choked. I cleaned the carb and fuel lines. I changed the spark plug. Any other suggestions?

Traper is right. Where that hollow bolt screws into that downward pipe. There are little holes on the pipe and the bolt. There is a jet up the pipe which must be clear.Perhaps you removed it while cleaning,if not it is gunked.Take a wire tie and strip the plastic from it about 1" jam it up that jet.Don't ream it. Or WD with the plastic tube to clear it.Now then make sure the carb is tight to the engine and the vac pipe secure. You got spark it should run. The mix may be set wrong so you could wind out the needle, blow thru it and then put back with 1 1/4 turn out for starters and then tune after its running and hot.

Bob//If carb has bowl with nut on bottom or adjustment both have side holes .Nut when removed has two threads with space in middle hole is in center space [may be lacquered over]some adj. jets have two one big one small.
