Scrap steel prices.?

I have a 7foot piece of W-24 I beam, an old wood stove that I will never use and some scrap U channel all totaling about 400 lbs. What is scrap steel going for these days? I would like to call up a scrap hauler and get it outta my garage.

Midwest, you can try www.detroit metal market.com that will give you a high end Idea locally. You can also try Jim's recycling in attica Mi , just a little north of you, he is advertising on the radio no charge on dumpsters used for metal pickup now...TX (810)729-8154...Shawn

I am getting $160 for short steel (3'x18"x18") in western NY. Rememer you will get less if you call someone to come get it.

I got .06 for some cast iron engine heads at the junk yard here in North Eastern Mass.

Jason, we must be neighbors. I am in Tewksbury. You can get much better prices at the dock in Everett. It is downstream from the power plant. I think they are paying around $180 for prepared #1. I'll be checking tommorrow as I have some clean-up to do. Prices are trending upwards at the moment. The locals (Lowell, MA) usually run a $30-40 discount and make their money by trucking it to Schnitzer's (formerly Prolerize).

Scrap is also shipped from a dock in Portsmouth, NH. That might be closer for you. It is right below the Rt 1 bypass bridge ramp. It's the middle bridge.

I look at www.recycle.net to get pricing. They don't alway align with local prices but give me an indication of direction.
