OT:Mouse smell in house wall

A mouse got in my outside wall last fall in one stud cavity. I took off the siding and cleaned out the mess and threw away the insulation. I primed the cavity with KILZ oil based, including the back of the drywall, studs, plate. The p@@ was really soaked into the bottom plate. Indoors there really wasn't much I could do. I have the two floor layers,(OSB topped with particle board). There is a small crack below the drywallwhere I forced as much of the Kilz primer in as I could and the back of the baseboard. Well, now its spring, its raining and the smell is back. The only thing left to do is cut out the piece of drywall. Any tip son removing the p@@ smell?

I also have a pi** smell in my laundry room, I used to have a cat that would sometimes miss and pi** on the floor, (the cats a$$ was too big). I have used a 50/50 bleach water mix in a pump sprayer and it seemed to work last year but the smell is back. I will never have another cat or dog again. My house is too valuable to let it get trashed by an animal. (I did love my cat though) Put her to sleep 2 years ago.

I 2nd the advice on the enzyme urine spray.

Also.. a cup or two of ag lime might not hurt either..

I had the plaster and studs off but the mouse urine was soaked into the stone itself. Two quarts of hydrogen peroxide 3% run through my paint sprayer did the trick. It also took care of the mould in the rafters.

There are several products made to neutralize urine smell in carpets, any pet store will have them. I've used them before when cats (which we not longer have, thankfully) decided to use the molding behind the garage door as their bathroom. Took several applications, but it did get rid of the smell.

I had pretty good results in a similar situation with the Febreze deodorizer spray that's sold most everywhere for spraying on fabric, clothes, etc. It also worked well to get the smoke odor out of a used car when sprayed on all the fabric - seats, carpets, headliner, door panels, etc.

Can you make a hole through the drywall into the cavity that would then be hidden by the baseboard? Then use the hole to apply any kind of deodorizer that you want to try. I wasn't sure how the mouse was getting in and I've heard that mice are repelled by the smell of peppermint oil. So I made a similar hole that is hidden by a baseboard register and placed a small vial of peppermnt oil with the lid loose in the wall cavity. So far, so good.
