Chainsaw rack to stop chain oil leaking?

I cut a lot of wood on weekends. During the week my chainsaws sit idle. I have tried every which way of placing them to not have the chain oil leak out all over the place: the saws on their side, on their bottom, tilted, etc. Short of draining them, has anyone found a rack or way of placing them when they are laid up for a few days so that the oil doesn't leak all over everything? Or is it the best I can hope for to make a drainboard with a drip container under it?

Park the saw on a piece of card board. Some saws dibble oil, some dont.

Many of the less expensive saws use exaust preasure to preasurize the oil tank and push the oil to the bar. When you shut off the saw there still is preasure in the tank causing oil to leak out. If you remember to loosen the cap on the oil tank when stopping the saw it relieves the preasure so the oil is less likely to leak. Expensive saws / high power saws have a pump oiler so they usually don't leak.

? never have seen this exhaust oil pupm thing, my Poulan has a little pump and does not seem to leak. However after shuttiing any saw off some oil will be left in the bar and output line of the pump and will likely drip just a bit. Mine will sit all summer and still have a full tank of oil.

I also wonder if it is a saw issue. My 22 year old shindiawa will sit up to a year with a full tank of oil and never leak. I used to use it weekly when I had a wood burner. Now I only use it when something falls.

Just keep your chain saw on top of your pile of tire chains.

in my shop I have one of those rubber boot mats, like the ones used to set boots in before going into the house. it's about 16" wide and 30" long with a 1" lip around the edge.If saw leaks it will at least stay there. oh-ya - I added a little speedy-dry

Bob,
Is the saw leaking all the oil out of the oiler tank? If it is, then that can be fixed. If it is not draining the tank, then you only remedy is to take the side cover off the saw and clean all the oil and saw dust out of it, normally when we get a leaking complaint, it is the oil in the sawdust under the cover that is leaking out after you are done using the saw and it sits.
