I have an 87 s10 blazer that had a blown brake line when i got it. Now the line is replaced and pedal still goes to floor. If i have the cap off the master cylinder and hit the brake pedal hard I get a 10 inch fountain out off each chamber. Is this a sign the seals are gone inside the master cylinder.
thanks

Some newer master cyls will be damaged during bleed if you full stroke. Solution is only press pedal about one inch at a time by hand.

That's normal for a working master cylinder. You need to bleed the air out of the master cylinder, then bleed the rest of the system. It will take 2 people -- 1 to pump the pedal and 1 to work the wrench. With all the fittings closed, push the brake pedal down as far as it will go AND HOLD IT STEADY. The person outside then cracks the lines AT THE MASTER CYLINDER till the pedal goes all the way down. WITH THE PEDAL STILL DOWN tighten the fittings. Let off the pedal and repeat the process until no air comes out the fittings and the pedal comes up. After you get all the air out of the cylinder, then you can bleed the rest of the system, if it needs it, beginning with the wheel farthest from the master cylinder. It may take a lot of bleeding, but it will eventually get there. That should cure your problem. Good luck and God bless, Tommy
