The reason I asked is I've a Briggs 14 hp OHV on Dixon 30" mower and that thing will not start if the valves get out of adjustment, because they're part of a compression release for starting system. I thought I had a bad battery and then proceeded to replacing starters. The local dealer did not try to help my trouble shooting eiether just wanted to sell parts. The manual only talks briefly about the compression release and you have really look to find that. It was a expensive lesson on small engines. bjr
