Identifying an Air Compressor ????

Guys,
The wife's grandmother has an air compressor that was bought in the early 70's setting in her garage. Her husband used it in his electrical business. It's currently still plumbed up and working. She uses it a couple times a year to air up the riding lawn mower tires. I'm trying to find some CFM information for this unit. Embossed on the side of the compressor housing is "Brake Shoe Company". Has anyone ever heard of that manufacturer? This is really a nice robust looking unit. Single stage 1700 RPM 240 volt. I want to put in a small blast cabinet in my shop and have been told I could have this one if I exchange it with one of the cheap wally world units. Any ideas?

MY father had one in his John Deere dealership shop. The complete label should read, "American Brake Shoe Company", if I remember correctly. It was made by the Kellog-American Company. The only problem he had with his in about 20 years was with the air filter housing cracking. He solved that by adapting a 420 John deere oil bath air cleaner unit to it and it was still running wnen he sold out and left

I checked the unit over and found no tags at all. There is a S/N that too is embossed just under the name "Brake Shoe Co." The wife's grandmother assures me the paper work to that unit is somewhere around. The tricky part will be locating it after 37 years. I tried to google but found no hits. Just thought that maybe someone might know a little "buy out" history on the Brake Shoe Comapany.

We had one in a shop I worked at long ago, it was made by Kellogg. You might Google that and see what you find.

Even as old as the '70s, there should still be a tag on it with serial number, model number, CFM, etc. You might need to clean it up a bit to find it.
