Karcher Power Washer Troubles....

I've got about a 3-4 year old Karcher Power Washer that has lost its prime or something.. It has a Honda 6.5 HP engine that still runs strong. Trouble is that it wont produce any pressure anymore.. I've tried about everything I can think of.. What now??? I kind of had to get a totally new washer. (But I do like the thought of getting a more powerfull one!!!) Thanks...

ok here is how i fixed mine.take little chrome(nut) of and that black plastic whatever and chuck them. then take apart the valve underneath and clean up the bore and piston and all realated parts and lube all .put back together, works like a charm.seems to corrode while sitting and not release.have to clean after a long spell of non use 2 months or so

Guys, Thanks for the replies.. Here is a picture of the Pressure Unit.. I dont find anything on it that resembles a relieve valve, or dome.. Also I have a good stream of water from the wand when attached to water hose, So I am pretty sure it is not a blockage.. I think this might have been a sealed unit, since it was filled with oil when I pulled the bottom piece off. What do you all think???

Have you checked for any crud in the nozzle or any other place in the pressure line. I have an old pressure washer (not Karcher) and a little piece of crud will restrict the nozzle. For a washer to build up pressure, it has to have flow. If the flow is restricted it won't build up pressure. That's how the on-off trigger works. No flow no pressure. Pull the trigger to get flow and you get pressure.

I've had the same problem Bob Van has had, there is a brass dome on the side of the pump that you can unscrew by hand. An o-ring will be about half off of the piece inside, put it back, screw the cover on and it works. It used to happen regular, hasn't happened in a year of so now. I think it has something to do with operating technique, the shut down sequence or something.

Charles, I also have a Karcher witht Honda and it acts up the same way. I can pull the trigger over and over and after about 30 times it may kick on. Then, as long as I keep it on it will run fine, but if I let if off for 1 second, then it takes 30 or 40 on/off trigger pulls to get it started. Can you describe what the "brass dome" looks like, would love to fix mine. Thanks. Tom

I also have a Karcher. I had trouble simular to yours. Mine kept blowing an "O" ring. Still does about every 4 or 5 times. No presure builds, just small trickle from wand. Check the brass pressure relief valve bottom side of pump.
