Just wanted to brag up the service I received from some batteries that gave me some problems. Their batteries for some reason leaked into our camera and ruined it. I emailed them and they wanted to see it for themselves. I paid the postage to send it, they verified it was their fault, and then told me to send them the receipt from a replacement camera I would buy to replace it. Paid in full down to the cent. Camera was aleast five years old. chris

I use duracell, energizer lithiums or varta photo batteries and have never had a problem with either. Ray-O-Vac and other discount brands just don't last long enough for modern applications.

I run engergizer NiMH rechargables in about everything. Yes they're $5 each for AA but I've never worn one out, they last twice as long before they need charging and they're RECHARGABLE.

My nephews all get rechargable batteries with their toys at Christmas and their birthday. I can't imagine giving a kid an electric car (and I ALWAYS give the an electric car) without rechargable batteries.

For anything of value only use Duracell!
Camera shops and hospitals only use Duracell.
The rest of the bunch will leak if you let them run down. If you have to use anything other than Duracell and you don't want acid in it remove the batteries as soon as they are getting weak. Putting a load on a run down non Duracell battery is the best way to fill your equipment with acid. The second best way is too long term store equipment with non Duracell batteries.

I have a Duracell that leaked, three batteries were ok.Never say never.I keep the battery lantern on hand to find my kerosene lamp.Checked the lantern during a blizzard, found it dead.

They are called "alkaline batteries" for a reason. The electrolyte is composed of potassium hydroxide, which is a base, not an acid. This is the corrosive substance that leaks from the battery. Pretty similar properties to household lye.

You had different results than I did a few years aog. I sent them a lantern that had a battery only 2 weeks old that had leaked and ruined it. they sent it back saying it was my fault for not removing dead battery.
