I call the place that fills my bottles and was told $75, last time I got one filled it was around $25-30 for it. Has any body else noticed that the price has gone way up lately or is it just me since I haven't had one filled in a year or 2

Fuel prices up, delivery costs more, retail price rises. Diesel $2.60 - $2.80 not $1.79- $1.99 couple years back, gas about $2.50 for cheapest. Any refinery product up some to start with before delivery. Liquid air processing up also. Cost increase on almost everything to be expected. RN

yes, went saturday to get argon for the TIG, and was a little surprised at the 38.75 charged for a 110 cu' tank.....used to get my 300 filled for that a few years ago. last time I swaped this tank out (3mo) it was 28 and change , and I thought that was high...manager told me that next month they are expecting another 10-15 percent hike on ALL bottled gasses(Airgas...think they bought everyone else out) . I was then informed they were no longer allowed to open welding rod to sell a smaller amount..say a half pound of somthing...nope 1lb or 10 lb pakage , I asked her for some 1/16 er308 to repair some milking equipment and they had none ,but said to go look in the corner there was some rod they were trowing out because it was in open boxes , and could not be sold....bingo about 8lbs of rod free....sorta took the sting out of the 38 dollar gas fee....Shawn

Heck, and I thought it was just here in New York. I don't usually pay close attention, but I think my tank usually cost around $25- $30. Got mine exchanged last week and it was $65. I almost had a stroke - and I just figured it was a new added tax to beef up the local welfare checks. I've been thinking of changing over to propane.

Old,

Around here the typical every day size is 30.00 I just got a 300 cu ft size and it was 60.00 . I keep 2 of the 300's and 2 of the 150 size and enough oxygen to go with them, plus a bottle of argon. I do the major cutting with propane (like it better) and I I do the preheating for o/a cast iron welding with propane. I also use quite a bit of acet for the metal spray ( spray weld ), that's one of the reasons for the big acet bottles, spray uses a large tip (basically a #8 rose bud ).

Boy do I ever agree with that advice! People even family and good neighbors can get used to free bees very quickkkkk ly! If a friend picks up something for me, I pay and then ask if I can kick in gas money. Only one time did he ask for $5 with a couple of yards of mulch bark. It is good mannors and most people understand. If they do not want to pay then you can judge for yourself as to how much you exchange favors with that person. Not hard nosed but school of hard knocks. Jeffcat
